📢 Announcing: Emerging Voices Scholarships
The Geneva Writers Group (GWG) is delighted to announce the availability of four Emerging Voices Scholarships for the 2025 Geneva Writers Conference, November 14–16.
These scholarships are open to students currently enrolled in a college or university program who have a strong interest in writing and wish to develop their craft within an international community of writers.
The Emerging Voices Scholarships are made possible through a partnership between the Geneva Writers Group and The de Groot Foundation, an organization deeply committed to fostering creativity and amplifying new voices in storytelling. Through this collaboration, four selected students will receive full access to the 2025 Geneva Writers Conference and a complimentary student membership in the GWG for the 2025–2026 season.
This partnership reflects the shared mission of GWG and The de Groot Foundation: to nurture writers at every stage of their creative journey and to celebrate the transformative power of story.
The Emerging Voices Scholarship includes:
- Full entry to the three-day Geneva Writers Conference in Geneva on November 14-17, all coffee breaks, lunches and apéros at the conference.
- Recognition and introductions and at the conference
- A seasoned conference “buddy,” if you’d like, to help you network and navigate your time smoothly at the conference.
- An opportunity to read from your work if you’d like. (optional)
- A student membership to the GWG for the 2025/2026 season so you can participate in future workshops and events as a member.
To apply for an Emerging Voices Scholarship:
Please send the following by 26 October as a single PDF or text file to genevawriters@gmail.com, using the subject line: Emerging Voices Scholarship – [Applicant’s Name]:
- Brief Bio highlighting your writing background/interests (up to 75 words)
- Statement of need - (up to 75 words) – Explain how you would specifically benefit from this scholarship, including any financial, professional, or creative considerations.
- How will attending the Geneva Writers Group Conference be beneficial to your writing journey at this time (up to 75 words)
- What else you would like us to know? (up to 75 words)
- A Three-to-five-page writing sample of something you’re currently working on. (please write a couple of sentences at the beginning giving us the context for the sample).
Scholarship Selection Process:
A Scholarship Selection Committee of writers and writing professionals from GWG and The de Groot Foundation will review applications as they come in and together make final decisions. Successful applicants will be notified by October 31. All decisions of the selection committee are final. The selection committee will not give feedback to unsuccessful applicants.

- October 31: Scholarship recipients are notified
